With “Good Company,” Buttering Trio does what they do best — lay down a fat, infectious groove and then dance on top of it. The opening track of the band’s upcoming LP, Foursome, ‘Good Company’ shows off the Trio’s musical mission statement: prepare yourself, these vibes go deep. The track locks in quick, sky-opening synths balanced with heavy, head-nodding bass and a dense, colorful stack of KerenDun’s harmonies floating above the ground. The trio followed a legendary blueprint to build out the jam: the laid-back, lazy afternoon vibes of Bill Withers. And while their creation is more psychedelic than anything that icon sang, the thread is there — this is an ode to good sensations and great connections, to be shared with good company.
